Not feeling like yourself?
It could be your hormones

Get expert care and treatment to understand how hormones, or other health conditions, are behind changes to sleep, periods, mood, energy, weight, or sex drive.

Hormone imbalance symptoms often overlap

Feeling off in more ways than one? That's often how hormones work. Visana providers connect the dots and help you find out what's actually going on.

Your symptoms deserve more than a quick explanation

No lab number can tell you what's going on. Your Visana clinician looks at your symptoms, lifestyle, lab results, and goals to help you build a plan that works.

*Cost and coverage vary by plan. Your provider helps you understand your options, look for available savings, and find a lower-cost path if needed.

Medications & hormonal treatment

When appropriate, your clinician can prescribe medications or hormonal treatments based on your symptoms, health history, and individual needs. We’ll help you understand your options and what to expect from treatment.

Movement & food choices

Movement and food choices can support mood, metabolic health, and overall well-being. Rather than prescribing a one-size-fits-all routine, we help you find sustainable changes that work for your body, health needs, and life.

Sleep & stress support

Sleep and chronic stress can affect how you feel day to day and interact with hormonal health. Your clinician can help you tidentify realistic strategies to support sleep, stress management, and your overall treatment plan.

Labs & testing

Lab testing can provide useful information about concerns such as thyroid function, blood sugar, and other aspects of hormone health, but it’s only one part of the evaluation. Your clinician considers test results alongside how you actually feel and what you’re experiencing.

Frequently asked questions

Does Visana Health test hormone levels?

Yes, when appropriate. After discussing your symptoms and goals, your Visana clinician can order lab tests when clinically appropriate to help evaluate hormone-related concerns. Hormone tests may offer valuable insight, but they don't tell the whole story. If your results come back "normal" and you're still not feeling like yourself, we'll keep working with you to find the cause.

Can Visana Health help with hormonal changes during perimenopause and menopause?

Yes. At Visana, we believe all stages of life are about thriving, not just surviving. With the right care and support, you can feel balanced, strong, and confident through every phase of life.

Our providers deliver expert care for perimenopause and menopause symptoms, including hot flashes, night sweats, sleep disruption, mood changes, brain fog, libido and sexual health changes, and changes in energy and metabolism. Your clinician will work with you to understand your symptoms and discuss appropriate treatment options.

What treatments does Visana Health offer for hormone-related symptoms?

Treatment depends on your symptoms, health history, underlying conditions, and goals. Your care plan may include prescription medications or hormonal treatments when appropriate, as well as support for nutrition, movement, sleep, stress, and metabolic health. Your clinician can also order testing and coordinate additional in-person care when needed.

Is hormone therapy safe?

Yes, for most healthy women experiencing perimenopause or menopause symptoms, menopausal hormone therapy (MHT) is safe and effective.

Persistent safety concerns largely stem from misreported findings from the early 2000s Women’s Health Initiative study. Hormone therapy alone does not increase the risk of breast cancer even for people with a strong family history. Consulting a specialized healthcare provider helps determine the safest approach, dosage, and delivery method for your body and confirm you don’t have any individual risk or family history to consider.

What supplements do you recommend to balance my hormones?

Visana Health does not broadly recommend supplements to balance hormones, as there is no regulation of the supplement industry, and the evidence behind popular "hormone-balancing" supplements is weak and inconsistent.

Some supplements can actually be extremely dangerous and unpredictable. There’s a big difference between vitamins and minerals like iron and vitamin D, and unregulated supplements like black cohosh. Yes, some supplements can help, especially those essential vitamins, but only when built on a foundation of good sleep, nutrition, movement, and stress management.
